Skyscraper Party

I was running down the Strip District towards Downtown. It was raining and I was mildly intoxicated. Every time I crossed a street I slipped on a crosswalk patch and fell down, only to slip and fall again after getting my feet on the metal strip that litters some curbs in the city. I was getting frustrated and people thought I was wasted, which bothered me to no avail because I knew I wasn’t.

I reached my destination at last. My house, certainly in the opposite direction in which I had been running. I grabbed a handful of things and I left. This is all I own now, I thought to myself. Hopped onto my bike and started peddling away. I reached this skyscraper; it looked like the Clark tower, though I don’t think it was it. There I met Jen. She was waiting for me, we were going to some sort of party.

We got into the building, and most elevators were very busy or out of commission. Information desk directed us towards a new elevator they had just opened because of how busy it was that day. We got in, only to find a set of people laying or sitting in the floor. What a waste, I thought. Could be fitting 20 more people in this place if only they were on their feet. The doors closed and the elevator started going up. We made a stop somewhere in the middle of the building. Turns out there was an elementary school there, and some of these folks were getting off to get to it. On we went when the doors closed.

We got to our floor. It was an extra tall one. There were stairs going up to the main deck of the floor. A line formed through them, a perfect choke point for ticketing and security. We slowly made our way up and when our turn came something loud beeped. The bouncer looked at me and signaled me to come forth. He looked at me. He looked at my bag. He looked at me again and said the bag couldn’t come in. But it’s all I’ve got, I replied. I don’t care. It’s too dirty, he asserted. Well, will I get it back at least? I asked, concerned. You could call later! He said with some sort of care free upbeat tone. Fine, I finally said, forwning.

We proceeded and were given these bumper car looking vehicles to get around. There was also a pool in there. We were moving along, but it was difficult; there were a lot of people crammed in this place. I tried to three point turn by the pool, but the vehicle got stuck in reverse. It slowly moved towards the pool and I was trying to fix it as soon as I possibly could. After all, I was concerned I’d get electrocuted. I couldn’t fix it in time and the vehicle fell to the pool, though only to realize it was amphibious.
